☆ Made In 1960 BM (Before Mario) ☆ @beforemario @donkeyking64 #Retrogaming #GamersUnite

I'm a sucker for video games books. I get excited at all the Kickstarter campaigns for video games related books.

I love all the Bitmap Books that have come out or are due to be released and I'm always on the lookout for another one to spend my cash on.

Yesterday an email came into the Freezer that got me excited and intrigued all at the same time....

Early Doors

Funstock are to stock the new Nintendo related book entitled "Before Mario"  and it will solely feature the toys made by Nintendo in its early years.

Sounds cool doesn't it.......?!

The Before Mario book has 224 pages focusing on over 50 products made by Nintendo. These products span three decades which then culminated in the creation of Mario (the saviour of 80's video games)

The book looks at Nintendo when the company famously manufactured playing cards until the early 1960s. From those inocuous beginnings Nintendo has now become a world leader in video games entertainment.

Erik The Viking

The book is written by Erik Voskuil. Erik is the owner of the world’s largest private collection of Nintendo products from the 1960s, 70s and early 80s.

The book features a foreword by Satoru OKADA who was one of the geniuses in Nintendo's first game design team and later went on to manage the R&D department.

Satoru was also co-designer of many of Nintendo's games and toys, including Game & Watch, Metroid and the Game Boy. (impressive CV!)

Seems like a sure thing to make it onto my birthday list for this year.

Take a look at the pics to see what you think....

Looks like a sure fire winner doesn't it....

Get Over To Funstock To Reserve Your Copy....

Whilst I was looking into the book I also discovered Erik's blog that accompanies the book.

It's full of Nintendo gems that nerds like you and I will absolutely love.

So take a walk down Nintendo Lane and stick a left at Game & Watch Street and there you will uncover this awesome blog....

Have Fun!
