This years PLAY Blackpool event is bringing us all a world first, hands on session of Sociable Soccer!

After time away from Football games the legendary Jon Hare of Sensible Soccer fame is ready to show the world the 'spiritual successor; to the Sensible Soccer phenomenon.

Jon be giving a mega exciting talk and Q&A session all about the past and present games and I for one can't wait to listen in on this.

Battle Of The Gamers!
This year there will also be several other tournaments and competitions for attendees to take part in:

8bit Planet will be bringing both paid and free to enter Super Smash Bros tournaments

Super Mario UK Champion Sami Cetin will be returning with Super Mario Kart

Manchester Battle Arena will be setting up the ring for some brilliant fighting game tournaments.

A full size replica Formula One car gives everyone the chance to test their driving skills in the simulator that comes complete with an authentic set of F1 pedals and steering wheel. The player with the fastest lap time each day will win a prize!

The Way Of The Master
There's also going to be the chance for visitors to attend master classes with industry experts!

Sega artist Duncan Gutteridge will be talking about his work on various Sonic projects and teaching gamers how to draw Sonic.

Pac-Man Legend Jon Stoodley is one of only seven people in the world to achieve the perfect score on PAC MAN and Jon will be discussing his achievements whilst sharing tips and secrets on how to be a an ace on this arcade classic.

Industry veteran Jim Bagley will also be taking part in a Q&A session on his recent world record video game conversion and also his upcoming projects.

The Museum of Games and Gaming will be bringing their “Why do we play?” exhibition to Blackpool. This exhibition has been curated by ex-Psygnosis employee and Museum of Games and Gaming Director Phil Robinson, who will be on hand gamers through the exhibition and answer any questions they may have.

The Indies Have Arrived
The Indie Zone is back again and as always will be a popular area to get hands on with new and upcoming indie game titles. The cool thing about this part of the expo is that you are able to talk to the people who designed and developed the games.

There will also be more cosplay from Dark Cleo Productions and the masquerade will be on each day which will showcase the public's talent and passion for all things cosplay.

The Arcades
The thing I love most about PLAY is the extensive collection of free play arcade cabinets and pinball machines and hundreds of retro consoles, computers and handhelds that I get to play all weekend. I just can't wait to get my mitts on some of these beauties.

As always gamers looking to spend cash on cool merchandise can head to the trading hall which will be full of video games, apparel and memorabilia vendors!

PLAY Expo Blackpool takes place at the Norcolympia Exhibition Centre in Blackpool on 30 April – 1 May 2016.
