☆ 2016 -The PS4 Diaries Part 17 "Life Jim But Not As We Know It" ☆ #PS4 #GamersUnite

Going into Life Is Strange I didn’t really know what to expect.

I’d been browsing the Playstation Store and came across the first episode for FREE.

I’d always thought that this game wouldn’t be for me. I’d imagined that it was some kind of teen drama aimed at well……..Teens...............

But I thought that I’d give the first episode a go as it was for Free.

I’d watched the trailer and fell in love with the music and art style that was being used to great effect in the game.

I’m so glad that I made the decision to give this game a go, from the first moments of the game I had feelings towards each of the key characters in the game and was eager to find out more.

There’s an incident early on which shapes this game and leaves you wanting more. I foolishly decided to buy the game episode by episode instead of the Season Pass route, but each £3.99 I spent on the next instalment was worth every penny. I was truly hooked on the story and emotionally involved with every aspect of this video game.

I’ve had a run of playing games which are thinking man’s games and this game for me tops them all. It’s like rolling up Firewatch with Telltale’s WalkingDead Season 1 and putting all that into a gothic episode of Saved By The Bell the College Years and then watching what combination will unfold.

I am surprised at just how much I liked this game as each Episode builds on the last and winds you up so tightly that by the end of the game you will be an emotional wreck.

The choices within the game always seem meaningful and by the end they also seem personal as you take on the main character so much that you really empathise with the decisions that have to be made.

The smallest thing in this game always brought a smile to my face and that was the handwriting style of the gameworld overlays. I really like this idea that Max (the main character) was almost drawing on this world to highlight to you items of interest to look at or interact with. It was a really well implemented system that was backed up with a journal of events as you experienced them and backed up the story that you had experienced. Add to this a scrapbook of clues and photos and the world built up piece by piece that felt different from other games that I have played and just felt natural.

After completing this game I had to take a couple days away from my PS4 in order to mentally cleanse myself from the ordeal that I had been through.

My admiration for DontNod Games is at an all-time high and I’m really hoping that they can go even further with their next video game Vampyr.

I would like to make one recommendation to everyone who reads this article……play the first episode for FREE……just do it…….you won’t regret it! (then purchase the Season Pass Immediately!)
