Settle Down And Read on As Pang Man Continues His Tokyo Travels As He Takes A Trip To The Pokemon Skytree Town ..........
"On Day 2 in Tokyo my wife asked me what I thought of the location of our hotel in Skytree Town. Now originally I would have said “quite good” but that was soon upgraded to “great!”
The reason for my change of opinion is that she had coincidentally booked our hotel only a 2 minute walk away from the Pokemon Centre! (Address: SKYTREE TOWN Solamachi East Yard 5F, 1-1-2 Oshiage, Sumida-ku, Tokyo 131-0045)

We were browsing the 4th floor of the shopping centre next to our hotel, when I saw a sign saying Pokemon Centre on the 5th floor. So naturally I ran up the escalator to take a look!
The entrance to the Store had the bright yellow Pokemon logo we are familiar with, and the focal point is a massive statue hanging from the ceiling of Pikachu riding a Rayquaza.
Inside the store itself there were several variations of Pikachu in different costumes.
They also had rows and rows of Pokemon soft toys such as Squirtle, Bulbasaar and Charmander.
There were many Pokemon I didn’t remember the names of (I am mainly familiar with the ones from the originally TV show that aired in the late 90s) but it was pretty cool nonetheless.
The thing that caught my eye, were these awesome special limited edition Mario and Luigi Pikachu! For me this was a must have and I picked up one of each. They are now proudly displayed front and centre in my cabinet at home. The carrier bag they came in was pretty cool as well. (My wife wanted to throw it away bit I insisted we keep it!)
Besides Soft toys, they also sold Nanoblock (a bit like mini Lego), keychains, pillows, socks, bags, bowls, sandals, coffee and snacks.
I particularly liked these Pokemon Trainers.
Dotted around the megastore were numerous life size Pokemon statues.
My final purchase for the day was from a Pokemon Souvenir Penny press machine at the back of the store.
For 200 yen (about £1.60) you could choose 1 of 3 different Pokemon coin designs. I got the 3rd variation of a sleeping Pikachu
Overall it was a great shopping experience and definitely a good place to pick up gifts for friends and family who love Pokemon (or for yourself of course!)"
