☆ Video Games That Caught My Eye At EGX Rezzed 2017 ☆

I love EGX Rezzed, it’s such a cool chilled out video games occasion compared to the behemoth that is the all-conquering EGX in Birmingham!

It’s a great opportunity to try out some awesome new games primarily from the Indie Devs of this world but also from some of the bigger devs that are being attracted to this gamers paradise.

Pang Man was our main man at EGX Rezzed this year but I also got to spend some time at Rezzed and I was bowled over by this year's awesome selection of gaming treats.

There was fun to be had at every turn and the use of the Tobacco Dock venue was once again a success.

I liked the way that the Switch had its own area downstairs in the lower area that meant that people could nip down and get involved with some Switch action. That area was also alongside the Leftfield Collection that was full of gaming curious from some talented individuals in the indie gaming scene.

My visit was punctuated by the following awesome video games that jumped out at me above all the other hundreds of video games that were on show on Friday that I visited.

These are the 6 video games that really caught my eye at EGX Rezzed 2017:

1. ELEX

An open-world post-apocalyptic RPG which focuses on the planet Magalan’s quest for survival after a meteor hit the planet. Now factions on Magalan battle it out for the element ELEX which can power machines, give magical powers, or re-sculpt life into new, different forms.

2. IMPACT: WINTER

Funnily enough, this game is also post-apocalyptic! Funnily enough, a meteor has hit earth this time!

The Bad news is Earth is now stuck in a never-ending winter. The good news is, help is coming, but not for another 30 days.

You are now charged with surviving for 30 days by managing a team of four survivors whilst you try to keep them alive.

You will need to keep them safe from bandits, the weather and starving wildlife.

Sound easy?

3. The Occupation

You’re a reporter in 1987 North West England.
The next 4 hours will determine the future of the country through your actions as you decide the narrative in real time.
You will get to be involved in an intriguing storyline that is played out by your choices (with not a meteor in sight!)

4. Serial Cleaner

Serial Cleaner is a story-driven, fast-paced stealth/action game, characterised by a 1970s theme and aesthetics. You are a professional cleaner. Your job is to clean up m scenes by disposing of bodies, covering up blood stains and hiding murder weapons and other incriminating evidence.

5. The Town Of Light

This awesome game is coming to console and I’m looking forward to playing the beautiful and chilling Town Of Light on PS4 as it gets a Spring release!

The Town of Light is a psychological adventure told in the first person. The story is set in Italy in the first half of the 20th Century in a place which really existed and has been meticulously reconstructed.

Exploring and interacting with the environment you will relive the history of the main character through her confused viewpoint and on the basis of your choices, the story will develop in different ways.

6. Augmented Empire

I caught sight of this and was intrigued immediately. This awesome looking video game is a story-driven tactical RPG set on the island of New Savannah, an isolated neo-noir city. Citizens of New Savannah who are  high societal value live in luxury at the summit, outliers and criminals are forced to live in squalor at the island’s depths.
From the armchair of their secluded hideout, the player uses simple look-and-click controls to instruct their team of 6 augmented misfits in a world rendered as an ‘augmented reality’ diorama before their eyes, while interacting with the office around them to investigate new developments, make calls, and develop the skills of their team.

So there you have my 6 EGX Rezzed video games.

Keep an eye out for these cool cats this year and get playing them as soon as you get the chance…
