☆ SEGA Forever Launches With 5 Free SEGA Classics! ☆

SEGA's Very own retro video games service has arrived and it could turn out to be a special place for us retro gamers to visit.

SEGA Forever is looking to launch 'new' retro games every couple of weeks to mobile devices and tablets and starts the ball rolling with 5 SEGA classics which are available to download for FREE on the App Store and Google Play.

Let's Take A Closer Look Shall We...?

On the face of it, it would seem that SEGA's foray into their extensive back catalogue could be a masterstroke as they tug on those nostalgic tendencies once again.

Let's take a look at the FACTS shall we

Three decades after it all began, SEGA Networks announces a growing collection of classic video games for mobile

1. SEGA is bringing a growing collection of classic video games from every console era to your mobile device for free.

2. SEGA is looking to transport players back through two decades of console gaming.

3. Each game in the SEGA Forever line-up is:

• free-to-play
• ad-supported
• playable offline
• supported by cloud saves
• supported by controller support
• supported by leaderboards. 
• available to purchase for £1.99. 

4. The plan is for the SEGA Forever collection to expand through the months and years

5. The collection will include both official emulations and ported games that pan all SEGA consoles

6. Each game has been adapted specifically for mobile devices while trying to remain faithful to the original games

7. The release schedule is not fully confirmed as work continues in lining up the SEGA titles that can be released

8. Releases of new games will take place every two weeks

9. The first batch of video games is made up of the following SEGA classics:

● Sonic The Hedgehog, "the 1991 household classic that has remained at the forefront of hearts and minds since inception" 
● Phantasy Star II, "the long-time fan favourite RPG from 1989"
●Comix Zone and Kid Chameleon, "two American titles developed by SEGA’s in-house studio STI"
● Altered Beast, "the original Genesis pack-in title, a beat ‘em up set in Ancient Greece that represents a weird and wonderful segment of the SEGA catalogue that is ripe for rediscovery"

SEGA have confirmed that they want to find titles which represent platform capabilities (whichever platform that is) They can't absolutely confirm upcoming titles because of the process, some of the games in the pipeline include Girl’s Garden. 

Some of the roadmap is defined, some are work in progress. 

SEGA wants to hear from fans as well and will be polling SEGA fans about which games will be released first!
