🐲 Pang Man Part 36: A trip to the Pokémon Center DX 🐲 #Pokemon

A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to visit the two Pokémon Centers (one in Skytree Town and one in Sunshine City) in Tokyo. 

This year I wanted to make a return visit, so imagine my surprise when I found out that a third store had just opened!

The new store is called Pokémon Center Tokyo DX (I’m guessing the DX stands for deluxe) and is located next to Tokyo metro station.

The entrance to the store had these beautiful Pokémon themed walls:

A massive Snorlax was the focal point of the entrance and was a popular point for photos.

Merchandise was like the other two Pokémon stores, however there were a few things that I hadn’t seen before. The first was you could now buy different costumes for Pikachu, allowing you to tailor his outfit more towards your personal preferences.

Another feature unique to this store was these giant Pokédex touchscreens on the wall.

You could swipe through a gallery of Pokémon and select the one you wanted. It would then pull up some statistics and individual information (albeit in Japanese) on the one you chose.

The images looked kind of holographic and it was a pretty fun interactive feature to play around with.

The other difference to my previous visit, was that this time there appeared to be a greater range of Pokémon dressed up as other Pokémon, for example, Pikachu dressed up as Eevee or Rowlet.

There was also some more luxury individually packaged plushies, like the two below.

These would make great presents for any Nintendo fan.

There was the usual assortment of food and snacks, which were of course beautiful presented.

And of course a large assortment of plush toys and stationery:

There was also the chance to play the new Switch release “Let’s go Eevee” and “Let’s go Pikachu”.

At the time the game hadn’t yet been released so the queue for this was pretty long, so I didn’t get a chance to have a go unfortunately.

In the end I picked up a couple of plushes (around £15 each) for myself (photo below) but I tried to hold back on spending too much as I knew that there would be lots more opportunities for shopping in the coming days!

Overall this store was the best of the 3 Pokémon centers in Tokyo due to Its sheer size and the uniqueness of the giant touchscreen interactive Pokédex.
