BACK OF THE BOX QUOTE
TYPE OF GAME
Ritual Crown Of horns is a western-style, top-down, twin-stick, twitch shooter in the vein of the Hotline Miami series of video games and various other games that have attempted to emulate the Hotline Miami formula.
Throw into the mix some magic and the evil undead and away you go for some tough as nails shooting fun on your Nintendo Switch
LIKED
- Great atmosphere and well-realised level design make for a different experience from your usual top-down shooter
- The western horror theme that draws you in from the start
- The rewarding feeling after you beat a challenging wave of enemies after a frantic 3 minutes of harem-scarem shooting action and on the fly crowd control tactics
DISLIKED
- The aiming and shooting mechanism are a bit rigid so that means that you are unable to shoot on the fly which means that you have to press the aim button before you can shoot which feels a little less dynamic than games in the vein of Hotline Miami
- Playing this game in Switch handheld mode on the Switch means that you are having to put your fingers into uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods in order to complete a level, my hands were aching after a few sessions!
- In order to survive, you will need to hook this up to your TV and use the joy-con controller adapter for your Nintendo Switch otherwise those hand cramps will make you quit!
- Long loading times detract from the flow of the game, I'm not 100% sure why it takes so long to load in but it can be annoying in a game where you will die a lot
RELEASE DATE & PRICE
7th November 2019 (Nintendo eShop)
Summary
This is a stylish video game from Draw Distance as they bring this nice top-down shooter formula to the Nintendo Switch.
This is a big challenge for people who are lovers of learning the mechanics of the game inside and out in order to succeed
This game is not for everyone though as I feel the rigidness of the aim and then shoot mechanic may put a few people off of this stylish western horror shooter
If you love tough games then go get this as I give it a Melting rating meaning that if you’re a fan of the genre then this is a game for you to pick up in the eShop
Right, I’m off to defend a witch against the undead while she lays down in the middle of a Battlefield, just another Friday night in the Games Freezer then!
