When I was about 6 years old I had a stamp collection of sorts. It consisted of an A4 book all about stamps through the ages and it had spaces in the book just in case you stumbled across a penny black and wanted to casually stick it into your book.
From memory, I had lots of 1st and second class stamps in there that I had lifted off of my mum and dad's regular post by steaming the envelopes.
Beyond stamps, I also used to train spot in a notebook by sitting at the end of my old garden and watch the trains zoom by on the Greater Anglia line that ran across the back of all the houses.
It felt like stamp collectors and trainspotters were part of the same ballpark in terms of the nerdiness spectrum.
Fast Forward 34 years and here we are today back at stamps...BUT this time we are talking video games related stamps from the Royal Mail.
Royal Mail has have worked with some recognised figures in the retrogaming community such as Bitmap Books and Jaz Rignall to pull together stamps that cover some of the most influential British video games from over the years.
We're talking Lemmings, Dizzy, Elite, Sensible Soccer, Micro Machines and Worms amongst other classics of the '80s and '90s.
The collector set comes in a snazzy smart tin with some lovely artwork on the front and inside you get the stamps mounted on card with a nice accompanying booklet written by Jaz Rignall.
It's a real classy set that at around £15 feels great value for money.
This was also a limited edition and I think that Royal Mail has now sold out of this version but you can still get the printed stamps if you wish to take a look.
Anyway, take a look at the photos and let me know what you think...
