Fledgling Heroes is giving me the Flappy Bird vibes but with more feathers and finesse. It has a lovely looking hand-drawn style of graphics and an ultra-tight control system that is easy to learn and hard to master. This is one slick fun video game.

The game does feel very much like a mobile game that has been brought to the switch but that’s no bad thing as the game feels right at home on the Nintendo Switch and gives you a nice zen experience while you flap through this relatively short but fun side-scrolling flapper.

You will use your A button to flap and then away you go through the levels from left to right collecting items and dodging enemies.

As you progress more feathered friends are unlocked with varying abilities that will change up the gameplay and make you think of how best to traverse that flappy feathery level.
The music and visuals combine to create a pleasant experience as you try and get all the collectables and unlock new stages. I found myself hooked on this ease of access to the game immediately and had fun flapping around dodging fish and collecting coins & gold feathers as I went on my merry way.

The one criticism that could be levelled at this game could be the length of it as it is pretty brief with 3 main worlds to conquer but at the budget price of £7.99, you surely can’t argue with this as your getting a compact, slick and enjoyable game that is great to play with the kids and a good game to challenge each other on to see who can collect the most items.
Throw into the mix a nicely implemented level maker and I think that this game offers plenty of value and lots of longevity as it gives players the option to create these levels and share with other players.

You also get the option to edit a character but that is pretty much limited to colour changes to the existing characters and nothing more which is fine for my kids as they just love making everything pink!
Overall I came away from this feathered game very surprised at how much I enjoyed playing it and how well it has been made. Subtle Boom the developers have done a great job here in creating a game that can be enjoyed by all and I’m definitely going to be recommending this to people who fancy a light-hearted short romp through the skies.

This game has bags of character and plenty of fun feathered frolics, so it's getting an ICE COOL from me...

Right, I'm off to belly flop some lizards, rescue some bunnies and collect some coins!
