To quote my friend Britt, also of this parish: "A third of the game is cutscenes, they are hurling around characters' names which all sound similar and sometimes refer to the same person in a light/dark/alternate version. So in one scene, they can refer to one character by multiple names...and they haven't yet been introduced."

He wasn't talking about Gunpig, of course. 
This is an absolutely bog-standard top-down twin-stick shooter which is still loads of fun. 

You control Bax, a pig in a tank, whose job is to shoot aliens until the level is complete. That's it.

This is a very short game - 8 levels plus two bonus stages - which is great because it doesn't outstay its welcome. 

There's a good range of weapons to do your duty with - some are way better than others, as you'd imagine - and happily, the power-ups stay where they are and cycle through the choices, so you can pick the one that works for you. 
Much of the replayability of this game is in the time and score attack vein. You'll want just one more go to try and beat your time, or to complete the game without dying, as, although you can continue, your score resets to zero.

Most of the levels have a secret room, revealed by a red flash when you shoot certain walls, which contains bonuses, power-ups, and collectable playing cards which give you some nice artwork viewable from the title screen. 

Graphics and sound do the job - bright and breezy. In fact, the soundtrack is better than I'd expect from a budget game.
