Having covered- and been impressed by – the Gioteck TX50 a few months back, I was looking forward to reviewing this new, wireless headset from Gioteck.

Featuring similar design points to the TX50, whilst this version is superior in some respects, you’ll really feel the benefits more as a PlayStation or PC user, although the TX70 does cater for all modern systems.

Featuring:

  • 2.4GHZ wireless RF
  • Enhanced 50mm drivers
  • Athletic Mesh
  • Lay Flat Design
  • 15 Hr battery life
  • Hidden flip-down mic
  • EQ (bass boost) button

The diamond-shaped cups are comfortable and didn’t feel heavy, even after long gaming sessions/podcasts recordings and the headband features generous padding. The all-black design also gives the headset a sleek and understated appearance.

As people keep bringing up in these reviews, I have a pretty large head and ears and the fit for me is comfortable and snug. After a couple of hours, I did tend to pop the headphones off for a second and then back on to give my ears a bit of a breather but I think this is down to the generous earcup padding which keeps the sound locked in and thus reduces audio bleed.

The sound quality is solid, akin to the TX50 and the EQ feature means that you can add some bass OOMPH if you so wish. I mostly noticed the impact of this option when podcasting, reeling in the bass for more speech-based audio and then knocking the bass boost to get that fuller sound for gaming. I was also a fan of the subtlety in the microphone design, a really neat, fixed arm that can be popped up when not in use, very discreet.

In terms of connectivity, as mentioned above – the PC and PlayStation users will be able to use the headset with the included dongle and benefit from the wirelessness of the TX70. In order to get full usage on Switch, Xbox consoles and mobile devices, however, you’ll need to use the included 3.5mm cable (which is braided, good).

A comfortable, robust and chunky-sounding headset at a competitive price with some tasteful design choices, the Gioteck TX70 is a great all-rounder for any of your systems.
