Remote Life is a classic side-scrolling shoot 'em up. Think of an updated version of R-Type and then some. Despite having an oddly forgettable name, Remote life is actually a cracking old-school shooter with super tight levels and great visuals that will appeal to all shmup heads out there who love a good ol' challenge.
As usual, the plot revolves around an alien life form that is detected piloting a massive ship that chews up everything in its path and is set on a collision course with earth in just two months' time! Enter our hero who will pilot a ship within the mother ship to destroy the threat before it strikes the earth.
Remote Life (which sounds like an Insurance Company name) uses the classic shmup gameplay formula to great effect but with some lovely twists such as controlling support fire turrets and 360-degree rotational shooting on the ship you pilot and the turrets you take control of too.
The game throws up stacks of weapon variations along with a load of ugly enemies to take on which take the form of robotic space-type bugs that can one-touch kill you at a moment's notice.
Working through the game's missions is a pleasure as there is even good variety to those so you won't be getting bored any time soon as you meticulously plan your way through levels whilst trying not to take damage and ultimately saving our beloved earth.
