🎧EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid Closed Acoustic Wireless Earbuds with Dongle 🎧 @eposaudiogaming

‘Leave the world behind with no compromise audio delivered by GTW 270 Hybrid wireless earbuds.

Its unique shape ensures a secure and comfortable fit for hours of high-end audio playback.

As an EPOS Hybrid product, the GTW 270 Hybrid delivers multiple connection options; Bluetooth® or aptX™ Low Latency connection with the USB-C dongle.

Escape to new worlds while on the go.’

We’ve covered several EPOS products here at GF, and all have been stellar, from the EPOS H3 Headset to the EPOS B20 microphone, each product has become the go-to for everyday usage in my gaming setup, with the B20 even replacing my beloved Yeti.

The EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds are no exception to this rule and absolutely deliver on what they promise, although with a caveat that is definitely worth mentioning, which I’ll cover later in the article.

Firstly, the specs:

EPOS AUDIO TECHNOLOGY - Noise isolating custom-designed earbuds deliver deep powerful bass, natural mids and sparkling highs. Exceptional aural clarity provides expansive audio for the enjoyment of your game’s audio realism.

DUAL WIRELESS CONNECTIONS - USB-C dongle with aptX low latency connection that provides high-performance single channel audio playback and standard Bluetooth 5.1 for dual channel transmission - speaker and microphone.

DUAL MICROPHONE TECHNOLOGY - Dual microphone design provides excellent voice pickup and reduces background noise for clearer communication, with superior acoustic clarity and intelligible speech.

IPX 5 WATER RESISTANCE - Protects the earbuds from sweat and light rain. No worries about heavy exercise or running through a rain shower, the GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds are water resistant.

PORTABLE CHARGE CASE - The portable anodized aluminium carry-case is also a charger. The five-hour listening time on the earbuds is extended up to 20 hours with the case.

MULTI-PLATFORM COMPATIBILITY - Multi-compatibility with the GSA 70 USB-C aptX low latency dongle (specifically Nintendo Switch, Android phones, PC and PS4) as well as standard Bluetooth 5.1 connection to any Bluetooth compatible device.

MULTI-FUNCTION COMMAND BUTTON - A single button on the left earbud provides tactile and intuitive control, conveniently switching through play, pause, next track and phone controls automatically. Pick up a call with a single tap and hang up when the call is done.

EPOS GAMING SUITE - Customize your sound settings via the EPOS Gaming Suite. Change sound profile between Gaming, Movies, Music and Flat for the best fit, or create your own sound profile.

The EPOS 270 GTW Hybrid earbuds turn up fully charged and ready to rock. Cased in a heavy-duty matte grey charging pod, they feel durable and robust. The settings and setup are also very self-explanatory, with a few simple images on the enclosed instructions illustrating how to connect to your phone, Nintendo Switch or PlayStation (you’ll notice the lack of Xbox here). Inside the snazzy packaging, you’ll also come across a USB-USB-C cable (with an extension to make it USB-USB), four sizes of inner-ear filter for the earbuds, and a dongle to connect to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, as well as a rubber case for the said dongle. It’s also worth mentioning that the dongle also doubles as a mic, which wasn’t previously possible.

The earbuds hold five hours of charge, whilst the case holds a further twenty hours, meaning that you are probably covered for all eventualities here, I’ve been using them solidly for over a week, and the accessible designs used throughout the product mean that I always feel on top of things such as battery life and setup, it doesn’t feel fiddly at all – although I would have liked a small compartment on the earbud case for the dongle to sit in, just to keep the set together.

The earbuds are also extremely comfortable, in both their flexible, ergonomic design and in how they sit in the ear, completely blocking out external sounds, leaving you with a pure audio experience - and what an experience it is!

The quality of the sound is phenomenal - and what I’ve come to expect from EPOS - really bringing music to life and adding fullness and richness to it, I happened to test The 7th Guest soundtrack by George Sanger, and it completely gave it a new lease of life for me – and, when reviewing earbuds, I always listen to my own albums as I’m so familiar with them and here the earbuds shine as well, giving weight, clarity and balance to all vocals and instrumentation. Even if there are tweaks that you’d like to make, you just need to download the proprietary EPOS software to make further changes, if you so wish.

In terms of the connection, the only thing I’ve noticed is one or two pops that happen for the first couple of seconds, whenever I initially connect the earbuds to something such as a Switch or my phone, but following that, it’s all plain sailing with a strong connection.

So, in terms of the classic EPOS stylish design, high build quality, clear instructions and usage, great battery life, awesome sound, and robustness - it’s all groovy…

But that caveat is there for those who want to purchase the EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid earbuds for their Xbox consoles as they, unfortunately, aren’t supported.

I’m primarily an Xbox gamer and would definitely be using these (instead of my EPOS H3 headset) if there was a way to connect, but alas, not.

That said, the earbuds have become a staple for my Switch, and I use them every single day when gaming or streaming music from my phone.
