A Valorant Mobile Open Beta is in the Works

Can Gamers With A Valorant Account Join the Open Beta?

We already know Valorant Mobile is coming, but what about the open beta?

Valorant is a competitive online FPS that Riot Games created in an attempt to flourish in another gaming market. Valorant has gained tons of success following its launch, but it’s only ever available on PC. Things are about to change, though; you’ll be happy to know that Valorant Mobile was announced during the game’s first anniversary. According to Riot, Valorant Mobile is part of their plans to expand their flagship first-person shooter onto new platforms. We’re unsure whether this means players can log into the game’s PC and mobile version using the same account with all their Valorant skins in it, but we have some tidbits on what you can expect for the upcoming title.

What is Valorant Mobile?

Valorant Mobile is Riot Games’ upcoming release that’ll bring the famous first-person shooter to a new player base—the mobile gaming community. We all know how Valorant is growing rapidly these days, as it has blossomed into a competitive scene. Plus, with the ever-expanding roster of Agents and maps, there’s always something new to look forward to when it comes to Valorant. That said, there’s always room for growth and what better way to do that than by targeting gamers from other platforms that don’t have Valorant accounts yet?

You could argue that Riot emulated what they did with their staple MOBA, League of Legends. League of Legends is a PC game, through and through. But thanks to Wild Rift, they were able to expand the franchise and make it accessible to more players around the world.

The Executive Producer of Valorant, Anna Donlon, stated that one of their top goals during their first year (2020-2021) was to earn respect and trust of the international FPS community. Moreover, Riot wanted to prove to them that Valorant would constantly uphold the fundamentals of what makes a competitive tactical shooter worthy.

Beta Testing for Valorant Mobile

The studio devs have been working tirelessly for the much-awaited port, and thanks to those efforts, Valorant is making some major headlines with its beta testing program. Beta testing essentially allows players to offer feedback to the developers, which the developers then use to make necessary changes that would improve the game.

A Valorant leaker by the name of Danny (aka DannyINTEL) divulged some images of what players can expect Valorant Mobile would look like. Besides the actual in-game screenshots that show the UI and various loading screens, the leaker also revealed the Agent selection screen. The screenshot shows the various Agents we know and love, such as Jett, Skye, Breach, Reyna, Killjoy, Phoenix, and Sova as playable characters during the playtests. It’s still unclear whether the other Agents are in the game yet, but we can expect more information to surface once Riot addresses things officially.

Other leaked screenshots include the differences in the UI for the mobile and PC versions of Valorant. From there, we can see that Valorant Mobile still comes with a full By Menu—akin to what we see on the desktop version. There’s also a Quick Buy Menu for players who don’t want to worry about what they want to equip for the match. The Quick Buy Menu is exclusive to handheld devices, giving three options for swift purchases between rounds. The prices of the options range from 2,600 to 3,300 Credits, with each preset pack containing armour, weapons, and abilities.

Now, if you’re considering joining the beta testing for Valorant Mobile, you’re out of luck. On April 2022, leaks revealed that Valorant Mobile has gone into the testing range—in China. For the time being, it looks like the mobile game will be exclusive to this region only. However, we’re hearing the news that Riot is currently working on creating an invitation system for other regions.

Introducing the Invite System

To receive as many opinions as possible on the state of Valorant Mobile, Riot Games has offered an exciting proposition to the players already part of the program. On September 2022, eagle-eyed Twitter users shared several screenshots of the Valorant Mobile private testing on the Google Play Store. The latest report suggests that Valorant Mobile could have an invite system to be added to the beta soon. This lets players who have access to the beta invite up to five other people to join them.

With Valorant Mobile inching its way toward a full release, this looks to be a way for Riot Games to slowly increase their progress speed: to add more players to the program. This would surely help them make more changes and tweaks in quick succession. And more importantly, introducing the invite system also suggests that the release of Valorant Mobile is imminent, so don’t be too surprised if Riot Games would suddenly announce an official launch date for the mobile version of Valorant in the near future.

Do We Have A Release Date?

Riot Games has not confirmed any release date concerning the beta testing or the actual game. It’s reported that Valorant Mobile will have open beta tests either at the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023, but for now, nothing’s concrete yet. Valorant account owners will have to stick to playing the online FPS on PC until we hear more news. Plus, with services like boosting Valorant and the ever-expanding roster of Agents and maps, there’s always something new in Valorant.
