Best WoW Dragonflight Gold-Making Profession

The Best Professions to Farm WoW Gold in DragonflightFarming gold through professions in World of Warcraft got much more convoluted.

The huge rework for the Professions system is the difference between Dragonflight and the other previous expansions that World of Warcraft has experienced over the years. Not only will it change the way we farm WoW gold, but it will also alter how we play the MMO. In this guide, we’ll be going through the most profitable professions to get into at the launch of World of Warcraft Dragonflight. We’d like to highlight that some of the professions we’ll be discussing might not be as relevant when you get to the later parts of the expansion, depending on your needs. Nevertheless, we’ll explain the specializations you can focus on and what items you want to craft in exchange for gold.

Herbalism

Unlike Shadowlands and the other expansions before it, you can now find all herbs found in the Dragon Isles in any corner of the new continent. Players will be happy to hear that the herbs appear in multiple environments in the Dragonflight expansion instead of only growing in a single location. This is crucial because gathering will be highly profitable for the first few weeks—the prices of the raw materials won’t be too bad, resulting in everyone jumping in to buy a lot of these items to upgrade their different professions. Heck, the reason for the high demand could be as simple as this is the time when most people are playing and buying things from the Auction House using WoW gold.

There are four herbs that players should prioritize farming if they’re into the Herbalism profession:

  • Writhebark – Players can find this plant anywhere close to foliage or trees.

  • Hochenblume – A common herb in the Dragon Isles. By far the most accessible plant to get, as you can find it in almost any terrain.

  • Bubble Poppy – A plant that prefers to live in dark and damp places, such as lakes, caves, or river banks.

  • Saxifrage – The Saxifrage is a sturdy plant that likes to grow on cliffsides and mountains. It can also be found on open plains and sometimes near volcanic terrain.

As for the specializations, you can choose between the following:

  • Mastering the Elements – Aside from gaining an overall skill bonus, you can also specialize in certain element materials. You can choose your preferred element material according to the market's demand.

  • Bountiful Harvests – Bountiful Harvests allow you to refine herbs and increase the resources gathered from each herb. This specialization increases the chance of a player receiving rare resources from gathering. It’s handy if you want to focus on a particular herb that you think will have a higher market demand.

  • Botany – Botany allows you to skin plant life and plant seeds across the Dragon Isles to grow your own herbs.

If you’re still in the early stages of Dragonflight, we highly recommend that you start with Botany since you’ll be able to gather all the different herbs while using your WoW mount. Plus, since there are plant creatures in the Dragon Isles, you can gather some plants for them and use their seeds to farm herbs.

Mining

Herbalism and Mining go hand-in-hand when discussing the best professions to farm gold in World of Warcraft. Once you’ve unlocked Mining after reaching Level 25, it’s best to take note of the two ores that are exclusive to the Dragonflight expansion:

  • Draconium Ore – An uncommon ore found in hard-to-reach places like mountains or cliffs. A mount is needed if you want to get this resource.

  • Serevite Ore – A common ore that can be seen scattered near mountain regions and flowing water.

Mining has three specializations to take note of:

  • Metallurgy – Similar to the Bountiful Harvests spec., Metallurgy is all about refining ore to increase its quality. With it, you can gather more Draconium.

  • Mining Process – Perhaps the simplest specialization on this list, Mining Process is merely about increasing your gathering stats. As such, we don’t recommend you focus all your energy on it.

  • Mastering the Elements – Allows you to specialize in specific elemental resources.

Inscription

Inscription is for people who want to craft normal items and sell them to the Auction House or participate in a more technical system when crafting. If you’re at least one of those, welcome to the club!

Inscription is capable of crafting different contracts for reputation, which is going to be important for Dragonflight. Players will need many different contracts to increase their reputation from the many factions in the game, especially during the initial launch of the expansion. Best of all, the profession is still relevant even after most players finish the early game parts of the MMO.

Overhaul of the Professions: Good or Bad?

Crafting Specializations and Item Quality are among the many features added for the Dragonflight expansion. Because of these changes, a player's skill level will now play a vital role in how much WoW gold they can earn from crafting. If you ask us, change is always a good thing—remaining stagnant results in staleness. But if you’re not up for the new ways of farming the currency using your WoW mounts, traditional methods such as looting, gathering, and the like are always available.
