SKATER XL PS4 REVIEW
I have always been a fan of skating games ever since I got my first PlayStation 2. I particularly enjoyed playing Tony Hawk Underground 1 & 2, which offered a lot of fun challenges. Today, I want to share my thoughts on Skater XL, a skateboarding simulation game that takes a more serious and authentic approach.
The game's controls may seem familiar to those who have played Skating games, but playing it is a different story, let's say - more realistic. Each thumbstick represents the corresponding foot of the skater, adding to the game's authenticity. While it can be frustrating at first, the trial-and-error process of perfecting each move makes it all the more satisfying once you finally nail it.

When the game was first released, it did not have online capability, however, the developers have since released an update that allows up to 10 other individuals to play together.

One of the things I liked about Skater XL is the sound effects. Each trick is accompanied by a sound effect you would hear in real life; it made me feel more connected to the game. Even the simple act of pushing off the ground is accompanied by a whooshing sound.

Adding the soundtrack to the mix, the overall listening experience was great. Additionally, the graphics are sharp and bright, with each level having a unique look and feel, however, the game needs to catch up in terms of NPC characters and dynamic environments, as it sometimes felt lifeless whilst playing and exploring.

SUMMARY
For die-hard skateboarding fans, Skater XL is a challenging but rewarding game prioritising realism in its control scheme. However, mastering its skills can be time-consuming, and for most users who have little time to spare or want to relax, this may offer less enjoyment.
