As a click-and-choose adventure game, your choices are crucial, as they can have a significant impact on the game's outcome. The Best Month Ever! takes you on a journey that explores the complexities of a single white parent raising a black child on their own in the late 1960s.
The game tackles sensitive topics such as emotional abuse, sexism, racism, violence, and drug use, making it best suited for young adults. The game's narrative is full of high and low moments that help to illuminate the characters and their struggles. However, some players may find themselves grappling with the effects of a mother's actions on her child, making it a powerful and thought-provoking experience. The graphics of this game were what initially caught my attention. After watching the game trailer and looking at the screenshots on other gaming platforms, it was evident that the game was unique and visually stunning. The backgrounds were thoughtfully crafted and developed, and the colours were well-executed.
However, when reviewing this game specifically for the Nintendo Switch, I noticed that it lacked certain features that are commonly found in other games. During some scenes, the screen size was too small, and the graphics quality was not up to par. The transition from indoors to outdoors was also not seamless, and the graphics looked blocky, which made it difficult to identify certain things. The controls are similar to other games, with the left analogue stick used for movement. However, at times, it can be challenging to move around due to lag, the ‘A’ button is used to inspect objects. While some other buttons are also used, these are the two primary controls.Best Month Ever! is an intriguing game that immerses you with its realistic sound effects, including the beep of a car, the fizz of a soda can, and the click of a gun. The game features exceptional voice acting, with Maurice Whitfield bringing adult Mitch to life, whilst Josie Stein voices the younger version of Mitch, and Jennipher Foster delivering a remarkable performance as Louise.
However, while I enjoyed playing Best Month Ever!, I wouldn't replay it due to its long scenes and lack of interactive elements. Although the game's realism is commendable, I've seen other games with better visuals and gameplay that I found more appealing.

Additionally, the game's graphics on the Switch could be improved, making it less suited for this platform. The game's length and slight repetitiveness also made it difficult for me to remain engaged for more than a couple of journeys with Mitch and Louise.
