Trust GXT490 Fayzo 7.1 Gaming Headset Review By Britt 🎧 @TrustGaming

We’ve covered several Trust products here at GF HQ, and they always deliver a quality experience at fair prices, the Trust GXT490 Fayzo 7.1 Gaming Headset is no exception to this rule in the quality, comfort and accessibility that it offers.

Made of 85% recycled plastics, the GXT490 is an eco-minded product that features an all-black, sleek, matte finish. With a 2-metre USB cable (with a rubber, un-braided finish so that it doesn’t twist awkwardly as some plastic braiding can do) and a detachable microphone arm – with an included (and also removeable) pop shield – this gaming-specific headset will work with both PC and gaming consoles. 

I tested it out in a lengthy 7-hour gaming session, and the comfort and lightness of the design, complete with the subtle foam head-banding pad meant that I found it just as comfortable as my usual gaming headset, which is twice the price! 

According to my fellow gamers, the microphone was clear, and perhaps a touch clearer with the pop shield removed, although if you tend to shout – or have the microphone super-close to your mouth, then I would recommend the pop shield being used in those circumstances. The RGB lighting is also quite funky and adds a touch of style to the overall subtlety of the design.

In terms of the sound quality, I was very impressed with the directional audio, not only was I able to home in on the direction of enemy footsteps, I could also tell what brand of shoe they were wearing as well as what size they were, such is the clarity of the sound. 

The mute and volume buttons are also easy to reach whilst gaming, with the only minor niggle being that, after a while the microphone arm would dip slightly, requiring a tweak – but as I said, I was gaming for 7 hours, so that’s to be expected, especially when that flexibility of the mic arm allows for different positioning etc. in the first place.

SUMMARY

In summary, this is another Trust product that doesn’t skimp on quality and at a very fair price point. The overall design is one of subtle sleekness with a touch of class in the RGB lighting, whilst the sound quality meant that I had a comfortable and breezy gaming session with no hiccups or irritations – a recommended product from us here at GF!
