Spear Master Nintendo Switch Review
Clearly taking inspiration from arcade classic Pang!, Spear Master is a smooth, charming, and unfussy game that works just as well in solo play as it does with friends.

As the Spear Master, you are guided by your father in the ways of the spear, through over one hundred levels, you – and up to three other players – will traverse the islands, popping the bubble threat that invades your lands.

Beginning with simple, static environmental blockers that alter the trajectory of the ever-bouncing bubble menace, you’ll soon be dealing with trickier and trickier obstacles as you move from left to right, launching spears upwards, whilst trying to weave between the enemy.

The music is gentle and lilting and the visuals vivid and bright to match the incredibly smooth animation. With a pick-up-and-play control scheme, and a convenient shop to spend your heard-earned gems at to get various bonuses and upgrades for your character, the accessible approach that runs throughout the game makes it appealing to players of all ages.

SUMMARY

What Spear Master lacks in terms of originality, it more than makes up for in its clean and smooth gameplay, simple narrative and addictive gameplay. I’ve always been a fan of Pang! titles, and this more low-key and unhurried approach is a welcome twist on the classic gameplay. Now, get throwing those spears!
