I find real pleasure in diving into games that are suitable for all the family, especially those that have a humorous streak running through them. My three-year-old is a bit of a litmus test when it comes to the child-friendly titles I cover here at GF, and when Just Crow Things came on, he was intrigued, but when he found out there was a poop button? He was sold.

From Unbound Creations – the team behind Rain On Your Parade – Just Crow Things ostensibly casts you in the role of a young crow that is on a quest to get her sunglasses back from bullies, but the real meat of the game is just having fun and causing carnage throughout the game’s stages. 

Sporting a top-down viewpoint, you’ll encounter myriad quirky characters, most of which will offer you quests such as luring a cat away from frightened mice, locating baby squirrels that have run amok – and pooping on cars, which then flip and explode…just like in real life. These quests are always fun, and tie nicely into the areas of each stage, it’s one of those games where it’s just fun to explore. 

You’ll come across items that the crow can use such as leaf blowers, blowtorches, and spray cans to cause havoc, all the while being accompanied by a lilting, calming soundtrack.

The visuals are simple, bold, and smooth, with an accessible control scheme and plenty of variety in the escapades that characters will set you off on. The innate charm in both the written and visual gags means that exploring and discovering the world is always a pleasure, and the simple, satisfying gameplay loop keeps things feeling fresh. A special shout-out to the person behind the audio, as the musical accompaniments of each stage – the tracks thematically fit the level that you are currently playing – nail the tone and feel an important part of the package.

SUMMARY
Whilst I haven’t had the pleasure of playing Rain on Your Parade, with Just Crow Things, Unbound Creations have created an experience that’s fun for the whole family and is sure to raise some laughs. That said, its calming and innocent vibes also hold appeal to those times that one wants a breezy, less-challenging gaming experience, and I’ve quite often found myself just pottering around in the game in an almost meditative fashion, awesome stuff, and a recommendation from us here at GF!
