A Night on the Farm Nintendo Switch Review
Frozen Flame Interactive deliver us a mysterious tale that follows the events of a car crash at night. Our protagonist begins the tale by clambering out of their wrecked vehicle before heading off into the night, happening across a seemingly abandoned farm.

What follows is a short romp around the farm and its grounds, as you find out more about the strange notes and items that you find scattered in this lonely locale.

Presented in a retro style, this first-person adventure feels more akin to the tonality of The X-Files as opposed to anything overtly macabre, with minimal jump-scares and the focus instead being on an unsettling atmosphere and growing tension as opposed to more visceral thrills.

The minimalist approach to sound design works in the games’ favour, as does the simple puzzle solving, and sparse voice work. The pacing and design allowing you to work your way through this short adventure without the tedium of being chased by insta-kill monsters, which was a blessing.

Whilst the simplicity of the mechanics, and leanings more towards ambient sci-fi as opposed to more instant horror gratification may mot click with some, this is a fun title that feels at home on the Switch and is perfectly priced for what it offers.

A tight narrative and the chance to hunt for collectibles – as well as multiple endings – means that, If you enjoy an hour or two spent in spooky surroundings, but don’t want to be so terrified that your heart explodes, A Night on the Farm definitely one to check out.
