GOLFR is billed as a unique sci-fi golf action game published by Drivehead Games LTD. The game is set in the near future, the game follows a robot scout from Earth that crash-lands on an alien planet filled with ancient relics hidden beneath abandoned golf courses.
The game combines traditional golf mechanics with action elements, allowing you to drive, chip, and putt your way through multiple biomes while engaging in combat with hostile enemies.
Each golf course consists of six holes, and you can choose to take your time working your way through or speed run through the 54 challenging holes. The game also features a Sim Shot mode, where players can practice with a holographic ball before committing to a real swing.
GOLFR boasts a futuristic and dystopian aesthetic, with detailed environments and atmospheric sound design that enhance the immersive experience. The game's visuals are complemented by a variety of interactive elements, such as data streams that players can travel along to unlock hidden relics.
One of the standout features of GOLFR is its Story Mode, where players must navigate through the fairways while defending themselves from adversaries. The game also includes short challenges that unlock trials for players. This blend of golf and combat adds a unique twist to the traditional golf game formula.GOLFR offers a fresh take on the golf genre by combining it with action and exploration elements. The game's unique premise make it an interesting title for fans of both golf and sci-fi action games.
I've had a nice hands on session with this title and I have to say that the premise for this game really does excite me as a golf fan and someone who enjoys exploration in video games. The golf element does take take a little getting used to though as it's a left to right motion with the mouse or joypad which is totally different from what I'm used to in golf games. Over time I can see that I will get used to the nuance in this control scheme and somehow master it.
Whether you're looking to enjoy a leisurely round of golf or take on challenging combat scenarios, GOLFR is a game to keep an eye out for in the future.
If you're intrigued by the idea of golfing on an alien planet while battling hostile entities, GOLFR is definitely worth sticking on your Steam Wishlist!
