BZZZT! Nintendo Switch Review 9/10 "A Perfect Potion of Platforming Perfection" 🤖🥪 @ko_dll #IndieGame #GameDev

The people who make the best platform games are the people that know the genre inside out from playing the classics and having an understanding of what makes a great platformer. What we have here my friends is one of the best indie platform video games that I have ever had the pleasure of playing. 

Developed by KO.DLL BZZZT! is truly a love letter to the classics of the genre and also brings its own brand of charm and sauce! Bzzzt offers up a fast-paced, precision platforming experience with the game clearly being designed to be accessible to both newcomers and veterans of the genre with its perfectly pitched variation of difficulty levels.

The year is 4096. In a top-secret laboratory, inventive Doctor Emily and world-renowned Professor Norbert are working on a highly classified project. Through their joint research and intellect, they finally created a tiny robot with a big AI personality! No larger than a regular household toaster, but with some extraordinary skills, ZX8000 is ready to save the world, one platform challenge at a time!

Meanwhile, other dark influences are at play in the world of BZZZT. The evil mad scientist, Badbert, prepares to unleash his nefarious plans upon an unsuspecting world as soon as he finds the perfect equilibrium of darkness, malice and madness. Bwahahaha.

The soundtrack is both nostalgic and fresh with some chiptune inspired tracks that have some ear worm samples thrown in for good measure, it's a retro gamers aural delight and really complements the warm pixel art visuals.

Playing this game feels like playing a live piece of pixel art with beautiful backgrounds and neat little touches to the details in the main level visuals, the style makes you smile even after your robot toaster buddy gets frazzled for the 5th time in a row!

The stages that you guide ZX8000 through are varied and delightfully bite size with one more go energy coupled with instant restart mechanics which keep you plugging away even if you get particularly stuck on a tough level. Platformer Crack if you will. Coupling this with the fact that failure never feels unfair, as you know what you need to do and can see what you are not doing right, creates a perfect potion of platforming perfection.

One thing you learn early on is that everything is out to get you, so completing levels gives you a nice endorphin rush doubled up with the urge to beat your time and golden bolts collected. 

All this goodness is backed up by tight controls and lovely buttery movements by our nimble toaster sized robot buddy ZX8000! 

Playing this on my Nintendo Switch is the perfect fit as I can take on a few levels in a quick play session whilst sitting on the sofa pretending to half watch some trash on TV (really i'm 110% engrossed in the wonderfully crafted world of BZZZT!)

SUMMARY

BZZZT! Is a true hidden gem. I only came across this beautiful game after seeing it on Twitter and instantly falling in love with its looks. After playing it my tiny mind was blown by this byte sized beauty of a platformer that has been crafted to perfection and clearly shows the dev's appreciation for what makes a perfect platformer.
