When I got Atari XEGS video games system for Christmas around 1989 I was about 9 years old and I remember this feeling that I was a part of something futuristic.

I had a computer with a keyboard, a cartridge slot, a light phaser and a tape deck that was living in my bedroom!

After hearing a video games discussion on the Giant Bomb Beast cast all about Lightguns it got me thinking about how today’s video games generally don’t necessitate the need for these cool peripherals and how over the years I have played with a fair few awesome lightguns.

Here just for you are my PERSONAL TOP 10 Lightguns that I have had the pleasure to play with…

☆ 7 Video Games That I Would Love To See Remade Properly ☆ #Retrogaming #GamersUnite

There are so many games that I would love to see get the remake/reboot treatment and this 7 are my real desires.

Kickstarters are a wonderful thing and if Shenmue 3 can get made then I’m certain the following 7 would garner enough support in a Kickstarter world to get made.

As I think about entering into the world of the 8th Generation of consoles I cast my mind back to the 3rd Generation of consoles.

The thing that sticks out in my mind is the two consoles that I owned from that generation and the fact that both consoles had some really cool built in games.

The retro gaming machine that holds a dear place in my heart has to be the Atari 800 XE/XL.

I've written about this ugly duckling of the computer games world before and how it came into my possession as a second choice to the ZX Spectrum.

I've grown to love this grey beauty and even more so as I look back on the many hours that I spent loading tapes and playing some of the cool games that introduced me to the wonderful world of 8-bit computers.

So the question is, which games do I fondly remember the most on my beloved Atari 800……..let's take a look, shall we?

When I was young video games pup my video games collection was small and usually well researched so most of my games were quality games.

BUT every now and again I would be tempted by an untested unknown game that was going for a pocket money price.

This usually resulted in the game being atrocious and me becoming ultimately disappointed.

The thing is, once I owned a video game I felt compelled to play it to the end whether it was a terrible game or not.

This led to me playing through some real awful games over the years that I really should have just walked away from on day one!

I've pulled together a list of Five Terrible Video Games That I Played Till The Bitter End! (sometimes the bitter end was me smashing up the cartridge / tape in disgust and frustration!)

Have YOU Played Any Of These Shockingly Bad Games?

My Dream Machine

Growing up everyone had a Spectrum or if they were really lucky they owned an Amstrad!

I spent my entire time going round to my friends houses after school to play these machines and really liked the idea of owning my own "Speccy" with a disk drive......surely (at the time) the most advanced piece of kit out there!

I often think, if only we had the room........

If only we had the room to buy all the consoles and computers we have owned over the years and maybe some of the ones we didn't own!

So that got me thinking, would I be able to remember the machines I had bought?

If only I had the room and the plug sockets to buy them all again!

SNES

Before my first SNES in 1991 I was brought into the world of video games from owning my trusty and often amazing Atari 800 XE/XL. The thing I loved about the 800 XE/XL was the fact that it had a cartridge slot!

To me at that point in time the cartridge slot was the most amazing invention, it meant INSTANT GAMES!
