NES Cheat Codes were a staple feature of every single video games magazine from the '80s and '90s and some of these codes have been etched into the brains of gamers from the era.

I recently received a new notebook from my wife as she knows my love of writing in notebooks. After receiving this present I decided that this notebook's sole purpose would be for me to doodle different video games inspired pieces of art on every page.

It’s been an idea of mine now for some time. I’ve been wanting to combine story, controls and tips n cheats into a graphic presentation for a series of video games. A cross between an infographic, a cheat sheet and a one-page video game manual.

We all remember the days of the hints, tips and cheats that we would find in video games magazines or be told about in the playground by our mates.

The cheats normally consisted of a combination of joypad movements and button presses to unlock some kind of infinite lives or amendment to the gameplay.

Back in the '80s and '90s, we were mega hungry for this kind of stuff.

☆ Do You Remember The Days Of Tips & Cheats? ☆ #Retrogaming #GamersUnite

In the era of 8 Bit and 16 Bit Video Games Tips, Cheats and Cheat Codes were a big deal..

This was the pre internet days and this meant you would only get to hear about cheats through your buddies at school or by reading your favourite magazine such as
Mean Machines or Super Play

Some cheats were even on Teletext or Games Master

You'd open the magazine and hope that your video game was covered in the Tips and Cheats section of the magazine or maybe they'll have a map for the latest Zelda?
