PowerA Advantage Xbox Wired Controller - Fortnite Midas 🎮 @PowerA

PowerA Advantage Xbox Wired Controller - Fortnite Midas
Hot on the heels of our previous coverage of the PowerA Core Blush a little while back, we now take a look at the PowerA Fortnite Midas, a wired controller that makes an extremely stylish first impression.

Feeling similar to the Core Blush in how it fits in the hand, the first thing that struck me about the Midas was how it looked; the shiny detailing in the handprints, webs, skulls and flowers popping out from the matte plastic, and the ridged back of the controller providing grip for lengthier, more intense playing sessions.

The triggers are designed to be less spongy, shallower on the press than the official controller, so there’s a sense of snappiness in their use, giving more of an arcade vibe and a sense of quicker reaction time. This aspect is also adjustable, using the trigger locks on the rear to fine tune your experience.

Nintendo Switch REMATCH GLOW Wireless Controller: Boo Hoo
I’ve covered a fair few controllers for the Nintendo Switch here at GF, and I find myself rotating between a few old favourites every now and again, but the arrival of the Boo Hoo controller has thrown things into disarray here at the Welsh branch of GF HQ, and I found myself becoming quite entranced with it during usage, and it has now become my ‘go to’ controller when gaming on the Switch.

FIEHDUW Manba One Controller Unboxing & Review "A Beautiful Looking Controller!" 🎮 @manba_official

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

Rich dives into the Manba One Controller and finds that this thing is a real contender in the third-party controller market, aiming to bring some serious competition to the big names.

Pros:

  • Versatility: Multi-platform support is a huge plus.

  • Customization: The Interactive LCD screen and programmable buttons offer a lot of flexibility.

  • Hall Effect: Hall Effect Joystick and Hall Linear Trigger is a big plus!

  • Price: At £71 / $69.99, it’s a solid deal for what you get.

Cons:

  • Build Quality: While sturdy, it doesn’t feel as premium as some competitors.

  • Button Feel: The clicky buttons might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

  • Start & Select Placement is slightly odd (at the bottom of the controller)

Overall, the Manba One Controller is a fantastic option for gamers looking for versatility and customization without breaking the bank. It’s not perfect, but it offers a lot of bang for your buck

Would you consider trying it out?

NACON MG-X Pro Controller | Review By Max (and a bit of Britt) | "The Phat Controller" 🎮 @Nacon

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

September 2021 was a different time. I mean, obviously, it was. All times that aren’t NOW are a different time. Even the start of this paragraph exists at a different point in time to this word here. Time that is so precious and yet I have wasted valuable seconds for both of us in trying to explain a point that is irrelevant to what follows.

And this is partly because I am a big fan of a nonsensical opening to a review and partly because (for reasons that will become apparent) the bulk of the review itself is not very long.

Back to September 2021. It was a time of lockdowns and consequently opportunities to indulge in al fresco Xbox gaming were not plentiful.

Despite this, I gave a score of 9/10 to the NACON MG-X, an Android controller that basically turned your phone into a mini Xbox.

It was a solid product that delivered on its promise and though I mainly used it sat on my sofa, I could see the potential for use in the great outdoors (internet connection permitting…)

We’ve covered a few NACON products here at GF over the last few years, and they’ve all stood out as high-quality, robust peripherals that last a lifetime and look cool as they do so, but does the NACON Pro Compact Controller continue this trend?

🎮 Gioteck | WX4 Premium | Wireless Controller With Programmable Back Buttons | 8.5/10 | ICE COOL 🎮 @GioteckArmy

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

I reviewed Gioteck’s WX4 - both wired and wireless versions - a few months ago on the site, having also used them personally for over a year prior to the article  -where they received a saucy 8/10 ICE COOL rating - https://www.gamesfreezer.co.uk/2020/11/gioteck-controllers-review-wx-4-and-jc.html

Having received the new WX4 premium version – again, compatible with PS3, PC and Switch – the build quality, connectivity and battery life are mostly the same but there are differences here.

Gioteck WX-4 Wired (2.5m cable) / Wireless & JC-20

Gaming controllers are expensive (I look at YOU Nintendo Joy-Cons) and it’s always good to have a solid replacement available at a decent price.

Gioteck’s WX-4 range caters for PC, PS3 and Switch whilst the JC-20’s are their version of the Nintendo Joy-Cons.

Here, I’ll be taking a look at how they rate as replacements for the inevitable Joy-Con issues or simply an addition to your accessory collection for multiplayer action.

☆Top 5 Iconic Joypads / Joysticks☆ - #RetroGaming

Share This Post On Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share This Post On

They can make or break a console or computer.......they are the part of u do when everything you play a game.......they become part of you, almost a 5th limb.....some of them even give you BLISTERS!

They are Joy Pads & Joysticks. The Video Gamers very own tool of choice that are used to interact with our favourite medium.

We have gone through the Joy Pads and Joysticks from years gone by in order to give you our Top 5 most Iconic ones.

These are the ones that are almost as famous as the console or computer that they belonged to and brought JOY to Generations of gamers worldwide.

So Lets get cracking with our first stick of JOY!

5. The Atari 2600 "Classic"

This Joystick is the ultimate in simplicity and design but it truly is the Joystick of the earliest gaming generations from 1977 to 1986.

When you think Atari , you think of this Joystick.

A true Classic and a cracking one to start our Top 5 with!

4. The NES "Control Pad"

The Nintendo Entertainment System introduced the world to the JOY PAD and boy did it bring JOY!

Although not very ergonomic in its design we think it more than makes up for that with it's unique character.

The NES Joy Pad had 4...YES 4! Count 'em .... Buttons!

As well as a nifty multi directional "D Pad"

We know that the NES was the system that turned Videogaming on its head again after the crash of 1983 and the humble NES Joy Pad played a big part in that.

(funny how no one mentions the NES Robot (R.O.B) anymore)

3. Playstion 2 "DualShock"
The PS1 got the ball rolling on this one when the original grey controllers were designed truly with the player's grip in mind.

When the PS2 was released we got a whole new ball game of a Joy Pad.

It had the 2 Analog Sticks for a start which were revolutionary at the time and now are standard across the two big systems of today.

The Dualshock's main unique selling point was the fact that it had two motors inside which gave it the vibration capability in order that you could get feedback from the in game action......Very COOL!

2. Megadrive / Genesis "Batarang"
Playing on this Joy Pad after playing on the NES pad was like heaven on your hands as your mitts really fitted nicely into this great design.

With 3 active buttons in close proximity to each other it was a dream to use.

It also looks very cool just like a "Batarang" from Batman which made it's playground appeal even more!

This pad reminds us of hours spent on Mega Bomberman & Earthworm Jim so has a lofty second position in our Top 5 countdown and rightly so!

So.......who comes in at Number 1?

For us there could only ever be one winner.......A Joy Pad that was so comfortable to play with, it was tough to even put it down.....this was the BEST joy Pad to play Street Fighter II with as it was a Joy to pull out a Dragon Punch with....

1. Super Nintendo "6 Button Joypad"
Just look at this beauty....it's a JOY TO BEHOLD

Pictured is the "Parma Violet" U.S Version. Just look at how this baby is moulded for pure gaming comfort.

You can't see it from this pic, but the shoulder buttons are nestled nicely on top of the pad, ready to send out a heavy kick or punch in SFII or a Powerslide in Mario Kart.

For us this was the pinnacle of Videogaming control.

6 Buttons was just enough to be able to remember what each one is programmed to do and to hold it was to be totally in control.......

NINTENDO WE SALUTE YOUR JOY PAD PROWESS.........

SNES JOY PAD......GET IN THE FREEZER!!

What Joystick did you love?

Which Joy Pad could never be parted from your hand?
