The Chinese Room were the company that introduced me to the walking simulator genre with their minimalistic and glorious 2012 title Dear Esther. This was followed by a firm favourite of our household in Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. And so, learning that The Chinese Room were making a game set on a Scottish oil rig in the mid-’70s was enough to make my trousers fly off and fold themselves neatly in a drawer, before definitively slamming it shut.

Rich has decided that it's time to enter the the maze of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord.

The remake is by Digital Eclipse and is a modern revival of the classic dungeon crawler RPG.

Players create a party of adventurers to navigate a labyrinth designed by the mad overlord Trebor. Their mission is to retrieve an amulet stolen by the evil wizard Werdna. This full 3D remake stays true to the original, built upon its code with upgrades for today's gaming audience.

It promises challenging battles, hidden traps, and deep dungeon exploration, culminating in the ultimate showdown with Werdna himself.
